iPod nano does not mount and cannot be updated or restored using iPod Updater

When you attempt to update or restore iPod nano with iPod Updater one or more of the following symptoms may occur: iPod Updater stops responding while displaying the message "Initializing" A "Delayed write failed" message is reported by Windows when trying to eject the iPod nano after an unsuccessful update/restore attempt. iPod Updater may stop responding during or immediately after the update/restore process completes.

iPod nano does not mount and cannot be updated or restored using iPod Updater

Symptom or issue

When you attempt to update or restore iPod nano with iPod Updater one or more of the following symptoms may occur:

  • iPod Updater stops responding while displaying the message "Initializing"
  • A "Delayed write failed" message is reported by Windows when trying to eject the iPod nano after an unsuccessful update/restore attempt.
  • iPod Updater may stop responding during or immediately after the update/restore process completes.

Solution

  1. Download and install iTunes 7.0 or later.
  2. Open iTunes 7.
  3. Connect the affected iPod nano and wait until it is recognized in iTunes.
